Kevin Geiger From St. Louis, Mo. holds a 26 inch Red Fish he caught under the Mangroves in Hickory Bay. Earlier that day in the Gulf, Art Johnson (left) Showed um how it was done when he caught 7 big Spanish Mackerel on 7 casts. Jim the Shark (right) brought a 5 foot Black Tip to the boat that took a Blue Runner on a flat line. The fight lasted over 20 minuets and took him around the boat several times. We released the Shark.

Michael (10) and Glen Lazerus with a Cobia caught at the Clam Pass 3 mile reef. Earlier they caught and released 3 reef Sharks each that were 3 to 4 feet long. They also had several big Spanish Mackerel to the boat but the Captain lost them swinging them in.

Buck Yow from Greensboro, N.C. with a 52 inch king Mackerel that took a thread herring at the Wiggins 5 mile reef.

Smaller Kings and Spanish Mackerel as well as 3 to 4 foot reef Sharks were abundant all week. The big Barracuda are moving in, making it hard to get a Spanish Mackerel to the boat in whole condition. This week's bait of choice is a lively thread herring.

Bobby McMorrow with a King Mackerel that took a live grunt only a half mile off Vanderbilt Beach. Kings like this are an unbelievable fight on ultra light spinning tackle. We also picked up a couple of Spanish Mackerel. We moved in to the backwaters for protection when the wind shifted to south. One drift across Hickory Bay produced an 18 inch Sea Trout, several Lady Fish and Crevelle Jacks.

Conner Lahen, 10, with a 16 inch Sheepshead he pulled from the rocks at the Wiggins 3 mile Reef. Conner was fishing with his dad, Steve Lahen, and John Coby, all from Wisconsin. They brought home 8 Sheepshead from 14 to 19 inches, a dozen Spanish Mackerel and several Mangrove Snapper.

Audry McIntyre and and friends fished the Wiggins 3 mile reef with Capt. Lindy Yow. They got 10 Spanish Mackerel from 17 to 24 inches and 6 Sheephead, 3 between 17 and 18 inches. They also caught and released a 22 inch Permit and several small grouper.

John Coby with a 23 inch Gag Grouper he pulled out of some rocks near the Wiggins 3 mile Reef. He landed this fish on a Penn 460 slammer with 17 lb. test. John's party also boxed 7 Sheephead, 1 King Mackerel, 10 Spanish Mackerel, 5 Blue Fish, a Flounder, 2 Lane and 2 Mangrove Snapper.

The fish took a live shrimp about 3 miles off Naples.
They boxed 8 nice Sheephead and 10 Spanish Mackerel as well as 2 Mangrove and 2 Lane Snapper on Saturday. There was lots of action with under sized Grouper and assorted bottom fish too.

Bob Stalone with a catch and release, 40 inch Red Fish that took a live shrimp at the Wiggins 3 mile reef. We boxed a dozen Sheephead in the 15 t0 18 inch range and a 16 inch Flounder.

Earlier that day we limited out on Sheephead from 14 to 18 inches.

John Jenson and Roger Carlsen released a verity of fish on Monday and Tuesday. Both days started slow, lots of small fish. The afternoons were more productive and the fish got bigger. Sharks on cut bait, Cobia on a live blue runner and the King Mackerel took a silver spoon. Shrimp picked up a few Snapper and Triggers but the blue runners made it almost impossible to get a bait to the bottom.

Black Tip Sharks, Trigger Fish and Mangrove Snapper were the order of the day on Monday. The Jenson party had there hands full when the sharks hit.

The largest one, five feet, almost jumped in the boat when he took the live blue runner flat lined off the stern. Gene did a great job fighting the fish to the boat. The shark was still green and I missed the mark with the gaff. We had planed to release him but with the bad gaff job he wasn't going to make it, so he went in the cooler. It was great grilled.

Bottom fishing was mostly small Snapper, Grunts and under size Grouper. They did get one large Trigger and several keeper Snapper. Cut bait worked as well as shrimp and small bait fish.

Bob McMorrow, Son Ron and Grandson Ronnie Fished the Clam Pass Reef area today and spent the whole trip fighting two Black Tip Sharks. Little Ronnie, 11 years old, did battle for an hour and forty five minuets before he got a 6 footer along side the boat for the release. Next it was Ron's turn. He was able to beat an identical shark in about an hour. Broke the rod in the fight but was still able to get the fish to the boat.
